Plastic surgery is a multi-billion dollar industry in the United States, and it is growing every year. There are two main forms of plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is performed strictly to alter the appearance of the body with no medical benefits. Reconstructive plastic surgery is done to help fix a physical defect that is hindering the life of the patient. These are the four most common plastic surgery procedures in the country right now.

Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that involves enhancing the size of a female’s breast with implants. The surgery is most commonly done for cosmetic reasons, but it can also be used to help women that have missing or misshapen breasts. It will take about two weeks before you are fully recovered from breast augmentation surgery. The removal of breast implants is also becoming an increasingly popular surgery in the United States.

Liposuction
While most people associate breast augmentation with plastic surgery, the most common procedure is actually liposuction. This procedure involves removing unwanted body fat with a suction device. This special device is inserted directly into the unwanted fat. It is then used to break up the fat before suctioning it out of the body. Liposuction can be performed almost anywhere on the body. It generally only takes a few days to recover from a liposuction procedure.

Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is another plastic surgery procedure that can be done for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes. Rhinoplasty involves physically changing the look and shape of the nose. This can be done to make it fit the appearance of the rest of the face. Rhinoplasty can also be done to repair a deviated septum that makes breathing difficult. You will have to take two weeks off from work to recover, but swelling in the treatment area may take months to fully disappear.

Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is a surgery designed to remove and tighten the skin on the abdomen. This procedure is also called abdominoplasty. Contrary to popular belief, a tummy tuck cannot help you lose weight or remove unwanted fat. The procedure is performed on patients that have a lot of excess skin after recently losing a lot of weight. It takes about one month to recover from a tummy tuck.
