Everyone gets wrinkles at some point in their lives. As people age, they go through a decrease in their collagen metabolism. When combined with the tone of the muscles in the face increases, it leads to wrinkles. If someone smokes or has undergone excessive sun exposure, the wrinkles will be even more prominent. Many people dislike their wrinkles and may choose to reverse the aging process for smoother skin and increased confidence.

A plastic surgeon can inject Botox into the face, which paralyzes facial muscles and decreases the muscle tone. This helps smooth some wrinkles. Deeper wrinkles, however, may require the use of a dermal filler. Dermal fillers aren’t just used to fight wrinkles, they may also be used to make lips, noses, and other parts of the face appear fuller.

A variety of dermal fillers exist. Each of them has a different use and works best for filling different types of wrinkles. The following are a few of the most common.

Hyaluronic Acid Derivatives

Juvederm and Restalyne, two types of glycosaminoglycan biopolymers, are very close to the natural substances in the dermis, the lowest layer of someone’s skin. These fillers are usually used to plump lips or to fill fine wrinkles. Their impact usually lasts four to six months. Not only are adverse effects rare, but the procedure can be reversed with the enzyme hyaluronidase.

Autologous Fat

Autologous fat is the fat taken from someone’s body and then injected back into their face. This procedure is used to help give the face more volume by recontouring it. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough data yet to predict how long the effects will last, but some professionals believe that the procedure has the potential to last a lifetime.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite

This substance is a constituent of bone. IT can be used to augment soft tissue in the face such as smile or laugh lines. Calcium Hydroxylapatite, also known as Radiesse, can be injected into both the deep dermis and the subdermis.
